The Dewi-Prys Thomas Award 2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Dewi-Prys Thomas Award 2026 winner was announced at the RSAW Welsh Architecture Awards Ceremony at Cornerstone, Cardiff on 22 May 2026. Eight submissions were received this year, including: several small-scale domestic projects; the refurbishment of a former school in Talgarth into an education and community hub; a wellness centre in the Taf Bargoed valley; the improvement of two underused parts of a Rhondda theatre; and the integrated artworks at the Bronglais Cancer Treatment Day Unit, Aberystwyth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner<\/strong>:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Haworth Tompkins for Theatr Clwyd, Mold \u2013 the transformation of a grade II-listed 1970s theatre into a vibrant, accessible and sustainable civic destination, embracing its landscape setting, and contributing to the development of arts and culture in Wales.
Prize:<\/em> bronze medal and prize certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organised by the Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust and the Royal Society of Architects in Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Marc Rees: inter-disciplinary theatre maker
Elin Wyn: chair of the Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust
Jonathan Vining (chair): architect, urban designer, commissioner of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, and trustee of the Dewi-Prys Thomas Trust.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
